Seeing the Doctor Soon? Go Prepared. For some, a yearly physical means just a few quick routine exams like height, weight, blood pressure, a little blood draw and a chance to talk to your doctor about what may be bothering you. For others, depending on your age, gender and family health history, there are extra tests and deeper discussions. What kinds of exams or screenings should you request? And what should your doctor suggest for you? In keeping with our theme of “Sunscreening to Health Screening” this month, we’d like to introduce you to a new tool to make preparing for your next doctor’s visit a little easier. Based on your age and gender, there are several screenings recommended by our member agencies, the nation’s most trusted health charities. Along with your list of medications, take this list of suggested exams to your doctor’s office with you. You can generate the list in the newly launched “Improving Health” section of our Facebook page. [insert link to underlined text as well as the image http://www.facebook.com/Healthcharities/app_275369145884043 ] When you reach the page, click on the red “Start Now” button as seen here. Select your gender and age range, then you’re ready to retrieve your free screening tips! Be sure to click “Print This Window” on your results page, so you can take the list with you for your next exam. Not yet a fan of Community Health Charities on Facebook?
