Insight into Autism: A Spotlight on Autism Speaks
Today, it is estimated that one of every 110 children is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined.
Community Health Charities and member charity Autism Speaks have come together for a discussion about the challenges parents face when dealing with an unexpected diagnosis of autism and the many medical, lifestyle, social and emotional issues surrounding the care of their child. Cathy Kanefsky, mother of twin boys with autism and Vice President, Field and Chapter Development for Autism Speaks, shares hers personal story and professional insight on what parents can expect and where to turn for help.
